  • 2 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
  • 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 large yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
  • 24 dinner rolls
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. In a large skillet over medium/high heat, heat olive oil and sauté onions until soft. Add ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder until cooked through.
  3. Spoon off excess fat from the skillet and mix in mayonnaise until combined.
  4. Cut the dinner rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the baking sheet. Layer with sliced cheese followed by the beef mixture and top with shredded cheese.
  5. Cover with top halves of rolls, brush with melted butter, sprinkle sesame seeds, and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
