  • 3 pounds pork shoulder
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, and minced garlic to create the dry rub.
  2. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and apply the dry rub evenly on all sides.
  3. In another bowl, combine brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to create the cooking liquid.
  4. Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker and pour the cooking liquid over it.
  5. Set the slow cooker on low heat and cook for 8 hours or until fork-tender.
  6. Once cooked, shred the pork using two forks and serve as desired.
